Environment: Italy and US launch initiative on energy efficiency and renewables sources
Minister of the Environment Stefania Prestigiacomo was in attendance, together with U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu, for the launch of the Global Partnership initiative at the Major Economies Forum (MEF).
The Renewables and Efficiency Deployment Initiative (Climate REDI) was launched on the occasion of the U.N. Conference on Climate Change in Copenhagen, and is targeted at accelerating the deployment of renewable energy sources in developing countries, maximizing energy efficiency in the global household electrics market, and facilitating coordination and assessments on energy sustainability through a platform for information exchange.
Italy’s Ministry of the Environment will fund the initiative for a five year period with a contribution of 30 million dollars. The White House has published a fact sheet for further information on clean energy:
