President of the Chamber of Deputies Meets with Vice President of the United States at the White House
03/02/2010
-
The meeting at the White House between President of the Chamber of Deputies Gianfranco Fini and Vice President of the United States Joseph Biden extended for almost an hour.  It is the first appointment in the course of President Fini’s official visit to the United States. Later on in the day, he will meet with Speaker Nancy Pelosi at the Library of Congress to present her with a copy of the work “Michelangelo-the gifted hand” published by the Foundation Fmr-Marliena Ferrari.

“Vice President Biden expressed great appreciation for what Prime Minister Berlusconi said in Israel today about Iran,” stated Fini. He added, “in particular, he told me that the Prime Minister’s statements did not go unnoticed in Washington, which is that the interests of a large company cannot dictate the policy of a country toward Iran. As stated by Eni CEO Paolo Scaroni, who is here in Washington, the commitments with Iran had been undertaken in the past, but now the path has taken a reverse turn.”

Fini underlined that “Vice President Biden expressed a very positive judgment on Italy’s commitment worldwide and particularly on the role of our soldiers in Afghanistan.”
