Fincantieri and Condotte America have received two important commissions in Florida valued at a total of $1.3 billion.
Fincantieri was chosen by Carnival Cruise Lines to build a new 130,000-ton cruise ship at a total cost of $738 million. Designed to carry almost 4 thousand passengers, the new sister ship of the Carnival Dream (consigned last September), should be launched in 2012 from the yards in Monfalcone.
Condotte America, an Italian infrastructure company founded in 1987 in Florida has been contracted to build four large elevated ramps at the SR 826/SR 836 interchange in the heart of downtown Miami. The construction, at an estimated cost of $559 million, is scheduled for completion in 2015. Condotte America has won sizeable contracts in recent years, among them a new metro segment in Washington, D.C.
