Italy’s Foreign Minister Franco Frattini spoke by telephone this evening with U.S. Special Envoy for Middle East Peace, former Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell. Minister Frattini spoke of his recent visit to Israel and the Palestinian Territories.  There was discussion also of the prospects for reviving the Middle East Peace Process, on which matter Minister Frattini and Senator Mitchell both agreed that Italy and the U.S. would remain in constant contact.
