Event summary
Energy is the lifeblood of the economy. The recourse to all available options and technologies in the field of energy is key element to properly address the growing challenges of achieving balanced and sustainable growth, and global energy security, and to tackle climate change issues.
Scientific research and the acceleration of marketable technology play essential roles. The challenge for industrialized countries is to adapt their energy infrastructures and regulations to a new environment that demands clean and efficient use of energy. Emerging economies face both growing populations and growing energy needs. These issues cannot be solved by individual countries but must be addressed globally in a framework of cooperation of Governments, scientists, and industry leaders.
